Assignment for 10/8

Today, will be an independent research day on Podcasting. I will be in and out of the building today so if you need me please email me or drop by the office.

You will begin learning about podcasting by researching it using the internet. I have put a link on the right side of our class blog with a very informative article about podcasting. After, you read it answer the following questions:

1. What is a podcast?
2. How does podcasting work?
3. How can teachers use podcasting?
4. Examples of how podcasting is being used?
5. What are your thoughts on podcasting and its benefit for teachers and students?

Finally, go on the web and look at a podcast that might interest you and let us know

1. the URL
2. Why you chose that particular podcast
3. What you thought about it in general.

We will discuss podcasts and your posts on Monday 10/13 and we will have a guest speaker come in and talk about how to make a podcast later in the semester. We are going to try and have everyone make their own podcast by the end of the semester.

Thanks,
Mr. Tashbin

BLOG ASSIGNMENTS FOR 10/8

Blog Assignments:

1. For the blog post due Wednesday October 8th, write two or more paragraphs in which you describe the Alabama Virtual Library (AVL) and the resources available to teachers well enough so that someone unfamiliar with AVL would understand what it is and how it works. Then provide the reader with your thoughts as to the usefulness of AVL to you when you begin teaching.

2. Post your comments on the the ACCESSIBILITY FOR ALL presentation you saw in person or looked at online and describe what you learned and how the information can help you as an educator in the future.

Accessibility For All Link

Here is the link to Mr. Steve Sullivan's Accessibility For All presentation on his blog. This is a good resource for accessibility issues and questions.

2. If you have not posted the disability blog, please do so by Wednesday. If you were absent, please look at the link to Mr. Sullivan's presentation and make comments based on the information in the presentation.

3. We will NOT be doing a website. I was informed by Dr. Strange on Friday that Google will no longer support "Google Page Creator", google's website builder, and that he has decided to drop it from the class due to the similarity to blogs. That assignment has been eliminated from the gradebook.

4. Today we will discuss the Alabama Virtual Library (AVL). It is another resource provided by the state of Alabama to assist you now and in the future.

5. The Foliotek objectives have been corrected. Check yours to make sure you have them in correctly.
